Reminds me of Calgary Alberta, Canada. No, I am not that old, but I am a history buff. I love these old buildings and we have Heritage Park in Calgary with the actual old bldgs from around Alberta. With the old train and everything from the early 1900's. It is worth visiting if you come up north.

These pics are very US centric. But Hippydom began there. The styles became the defacto norm in the Western world for young people, before morphing into cheap off the shelf clothes we still see today. And then tribalism fractured youth culture think Skinhead, Punk,Goth, Glam rock etc. Proper Hippies were very much a minority! I was there!

It's heartbreaking to see these photos. My maternal family is from Oklahoma, but Mom's parents left for Idaho in 1928. She was 6 months old. They drove west in a new Model T. Family lore says my grandfather was run out of Oklahoma for being a moonshiner. He was later locked up in an asylum after the "shell shock" from WW1 finally consumed him. My grandmother, my mom and her siblings survived hoeing and picking crops. Those were tough people back then.

Those black, white and red street cars were state-of-the-art transportation in the 80s. Toronto in those days held endless possibilities for Canadians coming from small towns. I almost forgot about all the overhead cables for the buses and streetcars. Oddly the streetcars were deemed as 'heavy-rail' something the radical leftist successive Toronto gov'ts moved away from by the 2010s.

I wonder why the channel creator no longer puts out new videos. I really love just sitting down, relaxing, and watching them. The music he uses somehow goes so well with the pictures, and just sets a mood of nostalgia. Does anyone know why no new videos have been released in a while?

My grandparents got married in 1925. My grandma’s dress was white satin short sleeve with about 6” of lace below. It was about tea length. Wasn’t real elaborate. She had a cap style headpiece with a long veil. Huge bouquet. My grandma’s sisters were the same. It seemed like the theme were dresses that were shorter, long veils and huge bouquets. Not sure why the bouquets were so big. My bouquet was a quarter of that and heavy after awhile.

Whenever I go back to my hometown I see almost all of this but with different architecture, of course. My place was a small city in Illinois. The bleakness, the grittiness, the closed factories and businesses. Yet so many never got to leave. And others, had to go there because it's the only area where the rents are still cheap. But how very profound it was to drive back through it all. It was bittersweet, for sure. So seeing this video was not only interesting to me. It was also a familiar landscape but just thousands of miles away!

God bless Canada 🇨🇦 and all those great 😊 Canadians of the 1950’s and generations past who built this beautiful country.

It is hard for people in Europe to understand the nostalgia for the 50s - we had bombsites , bleakness a monochrome world with rationing ..........

San Antonio is so old......I love my city's history and evolution

I was born in '49 and I remember these places. Toronto was so much easier to get around in, and parking was not near the issue that it is today. People were much more approachable and it was a happier city. However one thing that has improved over the years is the cuisine.

Growing up in the 70's, I think I saw everyone of these women whether they were my friends mom's, neighbors, teachers, or the lady at the store.

Some of these tank made 30's & 40's cars folded up pretty good.

Cigarettes and ashtrays everywhere. Remember when folks left the cellophane wrappers around lamp shades.?

Everyone knows that these were everyday drivers back then, but somehow it’s still a bit of a shock to see them in the snow.

So many people without shoes. It makes me wonder if they ever got comfortable walking and didn't mind it or whether their feet caused them serious problems as time passed. I can't imagine not having shoes.
